Deacon Jorge Morales was born in Mayaguez Puerto Rico in 1974. He is the firstborn of Jorge and Amalia. He graduated as a civil engineer and environmental engineer from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. In 1998, he met Glorimar “Glory” Iglesias, known now in QOP Academy as Mrs. “G” in which she was one of the retreat leaders. In 22 years of marriage, they have fathered five kids: Patricia, Jorge Kike, Daniela, Valeria, and Victoria. Deacon Jorge was an altar server at the age of 9, then in 2007, he became an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion (EM). EM was a ministry he enjoyed, it was a special activity with his kids on Sundays, visiting elderly people and taking them holy communion. In 2009 Jorge and Glory became members of a family catholic spiritual movement named the Schoenstatt Family. Schoenstatt has been a point of inflection in their formation and self-education guiding them under the protection of the Virgin Mary. They have cultivated an extraordinary love for the Mother Thrice Admirable and in 2014 they started, under Schoenstatt authority, their Home Shrine named The Holy Family. In early 2015, he received an invitation for the formation process to the Permanent Diaconate. After a discernment process and a jump of faith, he accepted. After several years of preparation, he was ordained as Permanent Deacon in December 2019 in the Diocese of Arecibo Puerto Rico. In the same year 2019, he got a job opportunity as an Engineer for a Firm in the City of Gainesville. In early 2020, with the help of Fr Al his Bishop Daniel in PR and Bishop Felipe authorized him to start the process to serve at St. Augustine Diocese. God’s plan was for him to lift the Chalice as Deacon of the Altar for the first time since his ordination at the St Augustine Cathedral in February 2020. In May 2020 he was assigned to serve as a Permanent Deacon to the Catholic Community of QOP. Currently, he is the Chief of Engineering Projects at the Veterans Administration. QOP and Gainesville are now home to Deacon Jorge and Mrs. G.
