Stewardship Overview

What is Stewardship?

Our community has adopted “Total Stewardship” as a way of life for our community. In response to the suggestions of parishioners at a town meeting our approach to stewardship education was revised and the four phases of stewardship were introduced: Stewardship of Time, Stewardship of Talent, Stewardship of Treasure, Celebration of Total Stewardship.

The purpose of the four phases is to emphasize the continuous cycle of stewardship. “Stewardship as a way of Life” does not mean only on Sunday, or only giving of our money. Stewardship as a way of life requires us to put Jesus Christ first in our lives and to live every aspect for the glory of Him. It requires us to give of our Time, Talent and Treasure. Only giving one or two aspects makes us incomplete. It is only in giving of our entire self does one come to realize the graciousness and mercy of The Lord.

We walk by faith as we share in Jesus’ vision. Stewardship is seeing things and living as Jesus intends. What you are is God’s gift to you...what you become is your gift to God!

Stewardship is . . .

not a program . . . it is a way of life.
not an activity . . . it is an attitude.
not the latest fad . . . it is biblically based.
not a way to raise money . . . it is a way to attain holiness.
not just a decision of the head . . . it requires a conversion of the heart.
not an option . . . integral to our Catholic faith.
not another thing to do . . . why and how we do what we do.
not about our generosity . . . about our response to God’s generosity.
what you do after you say, “I believe”.

Stewardship: A way of Life

Stewardship of Time

Time is more than the “hours in the day” and offering our gifts to the church. Time is putting God first in our lives and sharing our faith with others. Stewardship helps us evaluate how we use our time. Ask yourself: do I read magazines or spiritual readings; do I watch TV or pray and reflect; do I spend time online or time with my family/friends sharing meals, playing and praying together? In our parish we return our time to God when we visit the Blessed Sacrament in the adoration chapel or when we participate in one of the many educational opportunities such as our annual day of reflection, life changing journey classes and bible studies.

Stewardship of Talent

God knew everything about us before we even took our first breath! We are reminded we were made with a purpose. To deny our God given gifts is not a virtue. Prayerfully consider your giftedness. What is something to which you respond “I can do that!” Let us explore our uniqueness and use those talents to the glory of God in service and love.

Stewardship of Treasure

Queen of Peace Catholic Community is a Total Stewardship Community. As individual members, we embrace God’s plan for us as stewards of all God has entrusted to our care: the poor, the lonely, the children, the elderly, the lost faithful, and the physical world around us. We dedicate ourselves to sharing the Good News to all we meet and to proclaiming Jesus Christ as our loving Redeemer. We invite our parishioners to joyfully give 10% of their resources to the church as the Bible prescribes. The church in turn gives 10% of our total offertory to charitable and other non-profit organizations. Read more about the Giving Opportunites available here at Queen of Peace.

Where Do I Go From Here?

Have you decided how you would like to use your talents to serve and grow in your relationship with the Lord? We are blessed with so many ministry and gift opportunities here at Queen of Peace!

Stewardship is a journey. It is a life long conversion process in which we order every day and every decision to follow Christ and what our lives were meant to be. We take a step knowing that, even when we are unsure or scared, we are to trust the Lord with our whole heart, and love and serve the Lord and one another with our whole heart. God will always tell us where to take a step on our faith journey and we are to listen and lovingly follow. We will arrive safely in God’s time and according to God’s divine plan.

Anyone who has ever taken the leap of faith to total stewardship never looks back! Join with us as a faith family on a journey to the Lord!
