Worship Ministers

There are many ways to serve the community during the Mass and other liturgical events. All of these ministries are vital to creating a meaningful worship experience for all present.

Sacristans

  • Delores Christ (English): 332-6279
  • Germain Sanchez (Español): 376-4577

Sacristans prepare the liturgical items needed for masses and other liturgical assemblies. They ensure all items needed by the celebrant are in good working order and assist as necessary to create a spiritual environment for worship. Sacristans must be able to arrive at least 30-60 minutes before the mass when scheduled.

Altar Servers

  • Pat Milla: 332-2352

All children who are 10 years or older, at least in 4th grade, and have received 1st Communion are eligible to be trained as altar servers. Altar servers assist the priest and deacon during weekend masses and on other liturgical occasions. Servers must be dependable, have a deep respect for liturgies and demonstrate a willingness to serve GOD, priest and parish.

Adults who wish to serve are invited to assist at the 8:00am Mass on Sundays as well as the 8:00am daily mass.

Music

Like to sing or play an instrument? We have just the place for you in one of our 8 choir families! Here are a few great reasons to share your time and talents in helping our praise of God in our liturgies:

  • Nourish your creative juices
  • Develop your musical talents
  • Grow in your spiritual life
  • Give back to your parish in a fun and positive venue
  • Meet some other fine people

All are welcome! Continuously! Ongoing! No need to try out! God accepts EVERYONE - all the time!

Our current rehearsal schedule:

  • Cherub Choir: 3:00 - 3:30pm Wednesdays
  • Youth Choir: 3:45 - 4:45pm Wednesdays
  • 8:00am Choir: 6:30pm Wednesdays
  • 5:30pm Choir: 7:30pm Wednesdays
  • 10:00am Choir: 6:00pm Thursdays
  • 6pm Choir: 7:00pm Thursdays
  • Resurrection Choir (Funerals): 8:30am Thursdays
  • Cantores de Dios (12:30 Choir): 11:30am Sundays

Lectors

  • Edna Boyette (English): 463-8347
  • Miryam Montoya  (Español): 331-7230

Lectors proclaim the Word of God at masses, liturgies, and other prayer gatherings. Proclaiming the Word is more than simply reading out loud, lectors are expected to attend training sessions and prayerfully prepare their assigned readings in such a manner as to bring the Word alive to the congregation. Requires a good, clear speaking voice.

Eucharistic Ministers

  • Steve & Debbie Dixon (English): 332-4356
  • Germain Sanchez (Español): 376-4577

Eucharistic Ministers (EM's) assist the priest during the distribution of communion during the mass. All active members of the parish who have been baptized, received 1st Communion, have been confirmed, and demonstrate a deep love and respect for the Eucharist are eligible to apply to become an EM. All candidates MUST be approved by the pastor before they will be trained.

Ushers

  • Dean Bedford: 371-5985

Ushers assist at all weekend masses and other liturgies when a large number of participants are expected. They welcome and seat people, assist in taking up the offering, guide the flow of the congregation during Communion, distribute the bulletin and other items after mass, and perform other duties to assist in the comfort and safety of everyone participating in the liturgy. This ministry is not restricted only to men. Everyone, young and old, who is responsible and dedicated to serve is encouraged to volunteer.

Greeters and Gift Bearers

  • Roger and Debbie Coleman: 486-4155

While all ministers and members of the congregation are asked to help welcome community members and visitors as they come to Church, Greeters take the lead in providing a pleasant welcome to everyone. Individuals and families who participate in this ministry are also asked to bring the community's gifts to the altar during Mass. Greeters are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to Mass, otherwise a friendly smile and warm handshake are all that is required.

Arts & Environment

Arts & Environment ministers help to plan, prepare and execute the interior and exterior decorating of the church to visually enhance the liturgy. While Easter and Christmas are the two big decorating seasons, visual aids to the liturgical environment are needed throughout the year. A strong visual sense and decorating abilities are helpful.

Special note: We are looking for a special volunteer to coordinate this ministry. This person should have a strong decorating sense as well as a good feel for how to express liturgical concepts in an appropriate visual fashion and coordinate other volunteers to pull it all together.

Visiting Eucharistic Ministers

  • Toni Lawson: 332-6279

Visit the sick Parishioners at local hospitals, nursing facilities and home as scheduled and bring them Communion. Visiting EM's must have the ability to be tactful, kind, and compassionate. They are not to counsel or give advice. Their duty is to administer the Sacrament according to the specified rite. Fingerprints and background check are required. In addition to attending EM training, Visiting Ministers are required to attend a Protecting God's Children™ session.
