Feast of St. Mary Magdalene
Readings:
Mi. 7:14-15, 18-20
Ps. 85:2-8
Jn. 20:1-2, 11-18
Today we celebrate Mary Magdalene, the great lover of Jesus. The Gospel tells us of her love. After the Sabbath, May, concerned that Jesus has not been properly prepared for the grave, goes there to do so. She returns to tell the Apostles. Peter and John inspect the grave and find that Jesus is gone. Mary remains and sees two angels who ask her why she is crying. She turns around, finds Jesus, whom she recognizes when he calls her by name. Jesus’ love for each of us is similar to his love for Mary. He invites us to spend time with Him and to accept his love.
Take time today to be with Christ. How does Jesus invite you to grow in love with Him. Allow yourself to hear Jesus call you by name. How will you respond?
