CurriculumCatholic Customs and Traditions (Course A) Facilitator: Fr. Jeff McGowan, M.A. Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30pm Why do we use incense? What are the meanings of the symbols we Catholics use and the actions we do? Some of us learned these things as children and they went in one ear and straight through and out the other; some of us never learned and have been afraid to ask. Here's an opportunity to meet for two sessions (each independent upon the other) and discover the wonderful messages in the sacraments of our Faith. Questions Jesus Asked (Course D) Reflections during this class experience are based on questions that Jesus asked during the course of His public life...and continues to be asked of us today? How we respond to these questions reflect our identity, our faith and our hope for the future. Accept the invitation to deepen your relationship with God by devoting time to reflect on the richness of the God, in whose image and likeness we are formed. During each session we will reflect on a different question. Jesus the Rabbi (Course D) Facilitator: Bo Turner, M.A. Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30pm "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophits. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill" (Mt. 5:17). Come explore the life of Jesus as he sought to teach the Jews of ancient Rome about faith, the Kingdom of God and being a good Jew as we study, Jesus the Rabbi. Chocolate for Lent (Course D) Facilitator: Sr. Beatrice, M.A. Mondays, 7:00 - 8:30pm Using themes from the 2000 Academy Award nominated film Chocolat, this unique approach to the season creates the space for deeper insights into self-discipline, self-giving, conversion, acceptance and maturing in Christ. Delving into the delicious depths of humanity, Chocolate for Lent offers a Lenten program like no other. Book can be purchased in St. Anthony Gift Shop. Truth and Tolerance: Christian Belief and World Religions (Course D) Facilitator: Fr. Kaz, Ph.D. In a world that is drawing ever closer together, the question about the meeting of religions and cultures has become an important subject. How religions relate to one another peacefully and how do they contribute to the "education of the human race" in the direction of peace. These problems apply especially to the Christian faith. How to be a good catholic in the world of many religions and cultures? The truth and the tolerance is the best way to be a witness of Jesus in the modern world. "Conociendo al Espiritu Santo a traves de las Escrituras" Facilitator: Evelyn Vargas-See, M.A. Martes, 7:30 - 8:30pm Este curso le ayudara conocer a la tercera persona de la Santisima Trinidad. Aprendera la mision y accion del Espiritu Santo en los sacramentos y en nuestras vidas personales. Se recomienda que traiga su Biblia y una libreta para tomar notas. Alpha (Course A) Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:45pm Want to have fun, share a great meal and learn more about Jesus? Are you looking to begin or deepen your relationship with God? Then Alpha is for you. Alpha is about living the Christian life. Everyone is welcome! That means anyone from any church or religious denomination. There are no prerequisites. Come join us and bring a friend. Childcare is available. Acts: The Good News of the Holy Spirit (Course F) Facilitator: Ricardo Gonzalez, M.A., M.Ed. Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30pm In this course we will discover characteristics of the early Christian community and how these are related to our lives as Christians today. We will uncover the powerful activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the apostles and see how the spirit is working in the church today. We will also look at the leadership of Peter and Paul and how they helped to establish and spread Christianity throughout the world.
